Crock Pot Apple Butter

1- 45 or 48 oz jar unsweetened apple sauce or cinnamon applesauce
3 - lbs granny smith apples (diced into chips)
4 - cups sugar
1 - cup apple juice or cider
2 - tsp cinnamon
1 - tsp cloves
1 - tsp allspice

Peel and cut apples into small chips. Place all ingredients in the crock pot and stir. Cover and cook on low overnight (eight to ten hours). In the morning remove the lid and turn the crock pot to high. Cook apple butter uncovered for about 3-4 more hours until until some of the liquid has cooked off and the apple butter has cooked down . Pour into jars and refrigerate or can properely and process in a hot water bath. Serve over hot biscuits, toast, scones.

If home canning the apple butter. Pour mixture into hot sterilized jars and process in a hot water bath. 10-15 for pints and 5-10 minutes for half pints.
